Your HCDL locations are getting ready for the holiday spirit with these special programs:
Hillsboro
Children (ages 2-14) will read 20 books and turn in their reading log for a ticket to the Christmas Carnival, which will be held on Sat., Dec. 7 from 11 AM – 3 PM. There will be carnival games and crafts.
Tweens, teens and adults will have special holiday parties. These parties will be in lieu of the usual monthly clubs. This will be an opportunity for patrons to meet others who come to the library’s clubs, as well as a chance for any patrons with questions to learn more about the clubs.
The tween and teen party will be on Wed., Dec. 11 at 5:30 PM. The adult party will be on Monday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 PM.
Greenfield
From Oct. 15 – Dec. 14, kids (ages 0-12) will receive a reading log and draw from the treasure chest for every 10 books read. Teens, (ages 12-19) will receive drawing slips for each book they check out.
Other holiday programs include: Gingerbread Decorating Contest (Nov. 17-Dec 11); The Christmas Spider (Dec 5 @ 6:30 PM); and Grinch Night at the Library, Dec. 12 @ 5:30 PM.
Lynchburg
Merry Money has started! From now through Nov. 27, children ages 3-6th grade can check out and read books. For every 30 minutes that they read and record on their log, they will receive $1 in Merry Money to be used only at the Library Christmas gift shop.
They must keep track of the money and logs. Replacement logs or money will not be given. They will be allowed to do only 1 log, with a limit of $25 in Merry Money earned.
The Christmas Shop will be open Sat. Dec. 7 from 10:30 AM- 2:30 PM, and on Monday, Dec. 9 from 4-6 PM.
Children get one free space for a program attended (one time only). Preschool children may be read to by their caregivers. Older children should read age-appropriate material. Merry Money must be picked up by 4 PM on Nov. 27. No shopping will be allowed unless Merry money has been picked up before the deadline. Children must be present to spend Merry Money.
The Annual Christmas Tea will be Thurs., Dec. 12 at 3:30 PM. Please sign up in advance by calling 937-364-2511. Space is limited.
Leesburg
From now through Dec. 14, kids (ages kindergarten and up) can read 20 books and collect a wrapped gift for a prize. Prizes available from Dec. 6 through Dec. 14. Adults and teens can make ornaments.
Rocky Fork
Christmas Paper Craft Day: Every Saturday until Christmas come make special holiday paper crafts with us! (10:30 AM - 12:30 PM on Saturday, Dec. 7; Sat., Dec. 14; and Sat., Dec. 21)
Christmas Carols with Librarian Gayle: Come sing loud and clear for all to hear on Thursday Dec. 12 and Thurs., Dec. 19, from 1 PM to 5 PM.
