National Library Week Contests - Greenfield

To Celebrate National Library Week, we will have contests and prizes at the Greenfield Branch Library.

There will be a drawing for an adult and juvenile Gift Card.  Patrons will receive a drawing slip for each book they check out.  On Saturday, April 9th, one adult and one juvenile (under 18) will be drawn to win a gift card.

We will also have a Costume Contest.  If you come to the library dressed as your favorite book character, we will put your photo on Facebook and let the community vote for their favorite.  Prizes will be awarded!

Plant Exchange - Greenfield

Our Annual Plant Exchange will take place May 9 - May 14.

Bring in plants, bulbs, seedlings, etc. on Monday, May 9.  Receive a ticket for each unit brought in.  Throughout the rest of the week, use your tickets to trade for items brought in by others.  

The library staff will provide tomatoes, marigolds, and peppers.  

Nebulas presented by Cincinnati Observatory - Lynchburg

As part of summer reading at the Lynchburg Branch, kids can attend this fun & educational program free of charge! They will learn about nebulas with hands-on activities and interaction with staff from the Cincinnati Observatory. (For those who don't know, a nebula is an enormous cloud of dust and gas occupying the space between stars and acting as a nursery for new stars). 

Don't miss this chance to show your kids one of the mysteries of outer space!

Pre-registration begins in mid-May 2022.

Aliens! - Lynchburg

As part of the library's summer reading club, kids will use crafts and visuals to talk with a presenter from the Cincinnati Observatory about the possibility of life outside of Earth! 

There is no charge, but pre-registration starts in mid-May.

Science of Sharks - Lynchburg

As part of our Oceans of Possibilities summer reading club, Wave on Wheels from the Newport Aquarium will present The Science of Sharks. Participants will see live sharks, a set of shark jaws, shark eggs, a can of shark fin soup, and more!

Stingray Studies - Lynchburg

As part of our Oceans of Possibilities summer reading club, Wave on Wheels from the Newport Aquarium will present Stingray Studies. Kids will get up close and personal with Yellow Sting Rays, which are closed related to sharks, but have an incredibly different body shape and survival method.
